Create to advance.

We always talk about this need to create at every step, there is some symbolism in that, that's how the t-shirt brand was born. We decided to use the same name as the tattoo studios because it is not just a brand, really Dirty Ink is our identity and a way of life.

This new project is for us another support, another space (now textile) where different ways of expressing ourselves and creating converge. But we also believe that it is another way of sharing, it is a back and forth with our community, customers and friends. We decided to print the t-shirts in a screen printing workshop in Mexico City. The whole process is manual, for this reason and according to the idea of promoting and preserving original artistic work, each print run is unique and limited.

The first collection was developed together with a friend from Argentina, Hernan Marsili

Hernan Marsili o “Sili”, who has been dedicated to design for more than 15 years. There were 3 designs inspired by skulls and monsters. And a few months later, following this same line of work, we released a second collection where we expanded our series of monsters, this time we decided to bring them on holiday to our beloved Holbox Island.

Both editions were achieved thanks to a spontaneous collaboration. Sili is a graphic designer, illustrator and muralist, and in his work he combines design, illustration and silkscreen printing.

He thinks of all his drawings applied to each garment, as he said: "I always liked to see t-shirts printed with compositions, monochromatic designs, a lot of black color and some details in color". Plus the creative process is pretty old school: we sketch on paper, we make a neat copy, we ink it, and finally we digitalize it.

All of Sili's inspiration comes from the fusion between music and drawing, 90's grunge culture, blues, 70's rock, band posters, among others. We find much of this influence also in tattoos, and in everything that our culture represents.

We are currently working on a new collection inspired by B and Z series movies, some Hammer Production Company gothic horrors, and Universal Picture classic monsters. Monsters and creatures are definitely our favorite ones! We can't wait to show you everything new!
